The San Francisco Giants head east to Turner Field to battle the Atlanta Braves on Monday.
The San Francisco Giants have their sights set on the Dodgers and the National League East. The Giants absorbed a rare loss in a 2-1 defeat at Texas on Sunday but have still have won eight of eleven. The offense never got going which spoiled a solid effort on the hill from Mike Leake. Leake allowed both runs on eight hits and a pair of bases on balls. The potent Giants attack was held to four hits with Hunter Pence driving in Angel Pagan with the only run in the 9th. Matt Cain will be looking to get back in the win column when he face the Braves for the first time since 2013. Cain dropped a 5-2 decision to Milwaukee last time out with four runs plated on eight hits over six frames.

The Atlanta Braves had a shot at reaching .500 a few weeks ago but have been slumping since. The Braves had dropped nine of ten and faced the prospect of getting swept on the road by the Phillies before a 6-2 win on Sunday finally got the Bravos in the win column. Julio Teheran came up big on the mound with both runs allowed on eight hits with seven K’s through seven innings to improve to 7-6. Jace Peterson swung the big bat with three hits including a homer and three RBI’s. Jhonny Gomes drove in a run and scored twice with Chris Johnson knocking in a run and scored. The Braves send Michael Foltynewicz to the hill for his second start of the season versus San Francisco. Foltynewicz fell at Baltimore 2-0 with both runs allowed on solo homers in six innings of work.
San Francisco are 14-3 in their last 17 overall and are 14-3 in their last 17 games on grass while going 10-3 in their last 13 games as a favorite. Atlanta are 5-16 in their last 21 overall and are 5-16 in their last 21 games on grass while the under is 25-9-2 in their last 36 overall. San Francisco are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. The Giants can’s afford another loss so if I’m bored maybe a small play…
