The San Diego Padres are still holding out hope of challenging for the National League West. The Padres stayed on track with a 13-5 rout of the Brewers Monday for their 8th win in eleven contests. Starter Tyson Ross got the win with three runs plated on seven hits over six frames. SD racked up 13 hits and walked six times with Yangervis Solarte going deep twice with four RBI’s while Jedd Gyorko went deep and knocked in two. Alexi Amaristo drove in three with every starter driving in or scoring runs. Andrew Casher draws Tuesday’s start against struggling Milwaukee in game two of their series. Cashner comes off of an 8-7 win (ND) at Citi Field with seven runs allowed on six hits over 5.1 frames.

The Milwaukee Brewers are slumping and are need of some offense to turn things around. The Brewers continued to slump with Monday’s one sided defeat for their 9th loss in eleven contests. Wily Peralta was hit hard with six runs plated on eight hits through 3.1 frames with Preston Gullmet allowing six runs in just an inning. The Brew Crew offense couldn’t keep up on nine hits and four bases on balls. Scooter Gennett cracked his 5th homer and Jonathan Lucroy scored twice. A red hot Jimmy Nelson gets the call to the mound against visiting San Diego on Tuesday. Nelson is on a torrid run where he has thrown shutouts in three of his last four starts.
