The St Louis Cardinals continue their series at Great American Ball Park versus the Cincinnati Reds.
The St Louis Cardinals are looking to continue their winning ways and wrap up the National League Central as soon as possible. The Cardinals had won three of four heading in to Tuesday but the bats were silent in a 3-2 loss at Great American Ball Park. Starter John Lackey fell to 9-7 with all three runs given up on six hits over six frames. The Redbirds couldn’t pull it off on nine hits with Matt Carpenter going 2-4 with a pair of RBI’s and a run while Randal Grichuk tripled and scored. Carlos Martinez toes the rubber against rival Cincinnati on Wednesday. Martinez suffered through a rare meltdown in a 8-8 win against Colorado with five runs scored on ten hits over five frames.

The Cincinnati Reds won’t be challenging in the National League Central and would like nothing better then to take some of their rivals with them. The Reds had to be happy with Tuesday’s win as beating the Cardinals is always a great feeling. Anthony DeSclafani evened his record at 7-7 with both runs plated on seven hits through six innings while whiffing nine. The bats did just enough damage on seven hits with Jay Bruce, Marlon Byrd and Eugenio Suarez driving in runs with Byrd and Bruce also scoring. David Holmberg draws Wednesday’s start against the Cardinals in his second start of the year. Holmberg defeated Pittsburgh in his first outing 15-5 with just two runs allowed over six innings.
The under is 9-2-1 in the Cardinals last 12 overall and is 9-2-1 in their last 12 on grass while St Louis are 54-20 in their last 74 games as a favorite. The under is 5-1-2 in Cincinnati’s last 8 games as an underdog while the over is 7-3 in the Reds last 10 Wednesday games. St Louis are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings. The Cards bats are really nothing special and if Martinez struggles they will lose this…
