The Los Angeles Angels and the Cleveland Indians face off on Wednesday in Los Angeles after playing extra innings on Tuesday.
The Los Angeles Angels just couldn’t hit the ball on Tuesday as they lost to the Indians. David Murphy and Johnny Giavotella each had hits as the Angels didn’t score on two hits. Starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker allowed five hits and struck out 10 over 6.0 innings but he didn’t get a decision as Jose Alvarez took the loss to fall to 2-3 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Angels start Hector Santiago who has allowed 107 hits and 37 earned runs while striking out 115 over 123.1 innings for a 7-5 record and a 2.70 ERA.

The Cleveland Indians threatened often but didn’t score until extra innings as they beat the Angels on Tuesday. Giovanny Urshela had three hits including a home run, Michael Brantley had two hits, and Lonnie Chisenhall had a hit and scored a run as the Indians scored two runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco allowed one hit and struck out seven over 9.0 innings to not get a decision as Zach McAllister got the win and Cody Allen earned his 22nd save. For Wednesday’s game the Indians start Danny Salazar who has allowed 96 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 136 over 119.1 innings for a 9-6 record and a 3.47 ERA.
Los Angeles is 12-6 in their last 18 home games, 1-8 in their last nine games, and 5-2 in Santiago’s last seven starts. Cleveland is 5-9 in their last 14 games, 2-10 against a left-handed starter, and 4-1 in Salazar’s last five starts in game three of a series. Cleveland is 2-4 in their last six games in Los Angeles.
The Angels have just been horrible of late so I just have to go the other way here and take the Indians once again.
