The Milwaukee Brewers bounced back form Tuesday’s loss to beat the Padres on Wednesday. Jonathan Lucroy hit a home run, Khris Davis had two hits, and Ryan Braun had a hit as the Brewers scored eight runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann allowed six hits and two runs while striking out eight over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 6-3 for the season and Francisco Rodriguez earned his 25th save. For Thursday’s game the Brewers start Matt Garza who has allowed 137 hits and 67 earned runs while striking out 82 over 116.2 innings for a 5-12 record and a 5.17 ERA.

The San Diego Padres tried to rally late on Wednesday but they came up short and took the loss. Brett Wallace hit a home run and Yangervis Solarte and Justin Upton had two hits each as the Padres scored five runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Ian Kennedy allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out seven over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-10 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Padres start Odrisamer Despaigne who has allowed 102 hits and 54 earned runs while striking out 56 over 102.1 innings for a 5-7 record and a 4.75 ERA.
Milwaukee is 6-2 as a home favorite, 4-9 in their last 13 games, and 3-7 in Garza’s last 10 home starts. San Diego is 10-5 in their last 15 games against a team with a losing record, 3-12 in their last 15 games when their opponent scores more than five runs in their previous game, and 3-8 in Despaigne’s last 11 starts as an underdog.
