The New York Mets look to keep rolling when they visit the Sunshine State to battle the Tampa Bay Rays.
The red hot New York Mets have won six straight and eight of ten overall and their reward is first place in the National League East. The Mets defeated Miami 8-6 on Wednesday with Matt Harvey tossing a two hit shutout through seven frames. Things got interesting in the 9th with Eric O’Flaherty allowing four runs and Hansel Robies two before Jeurys Familia recorded the final out. The offense totaled 12 hits and a trio of BB with Juan Uribe cracking a three run homer while Lucas Duda knocked in three and scored twice. A surging Jacob deGrom toes the rubber against Tampa Bay for the first time in his career. DeGrom has been on fire the entire season with a 10-6 record and a 2.09 ERA over 20 starts.

The Tampa Bay Rays are not far off the pace for the Wild Cad but need to keep winning. The Rays saw their three game win streak end in Wednesday’s 6-5, ten inning defeat to the White Sox. Erasmo Ramirez was tagged for five runs on six hits over six frames before Brad Boxberger allowed a 10th inning run to take the loss. TB racked up 12 hits and walked three times with Evan Longoria going solo and scoring twice while Logan Forsythe drove in a run and added two runs. Asdrubal Cabrera went 4-5 and knocked in a pair of runs. Tampa Bay is slated to send Jake Odorizzi to the mound to oppose the Mets for the first time. Odorizzi did not get a decision in a 4-3 win at Boston with all three runs plated on seven hits over six frames.
The under is 8-1-3 in Tampa Bay’s last 12 on astroturf and is 5-1-3 in their last 9 home games while going 8-3-1 in the Rays last 12 Friday games. The over is 8-3 in New York’s last 11 on astrturf. This should be a good match up on the mound and for now I’m looking at the hot visitors…
