The Kansas City Royals look to stretch their lead in the AL Central with a win versus the Chicago White Sox.
The Chicago White Sox were red hot a few short weeks ago but have slowed since which has hurt their Wild Card chances. The Wild Card moved further away with Friday’s 3-2 defeat at Kauffman Stadium for their 6th loss in eight contests. John Danks threw the ball well with all three runs given up on five hits and three free passes over six frames to drop his record to 6-9. The bats logged seven hits and walked three times with Adam LaRoche smacking a solo homer while Jose Abreu doubled in Trayce Thompson. Jeff Samardzija draws the start against Kansas City for his third match up with the Royals in 2015. Samardzija looks to bounce back from a 12-3 loss to the Yankees with nine runs plated on eight hits including two homers in 4.2 frames.

The Kansas City Royals haven’t been playing their best baseball the last few weeks and look to turn things around. The Royals had dropped six of eight before squeezing out Friday’s win. Edinson Volquez was superb with a run allowed on four hits and a pair of free passes through seven frames to improve to 11-6. The KC offense did their damage on six hits and four walks with Lorenzo Cain driving in a run and scoring with Eric Hosmer and Alex Rios rapping RBI hits. The Royals are slated to send Jeremy Guthrie to the bump to oppose the visiting White Sox for the second time this year. Guthrie has not looked good in his last two starts with eleven runs scored on 21 hits over 12.1 innings.
The White Sox are 7-1 in their last 8 games as an underdog and are 7-1 in their last 8 road games while the over is 13-3 in Chicago’s last 16 overall. Kansas City are 7-1 in their last 8 games as a home favorite with the under going 9-3-2 in their last 14 Saturday games while the Royals are 2-6 in their last 8 overall. The under is 6-1-1 in the last 8 meetings while Chicago are 6-18 in the last 24 meetings. I think Samardzija is the better hurler but Guthrie has done well in this match up…
