The Cleveland Indians shoot for another win against the Minnesota Twins in Sunday action.
The Minnesota Twins had high hopes of snagging one of the Wild Cards but they have been fading the past few weeks. The Twins slide continued in a 17-4 loss at Cleveland Saturday for their 8th loss in eleven contests. Starter Ervin Santana was charged with eight runs over 2.1 frames with Ryan O’Rourke gave up three runs without recording an out while Adam Archer gave up four also without getting an out. The Twins offense consisted of solo homers off the bats of Joe Mauer, Kurt Suzuki and Eddie Rosario. Phil Hughes draws Sunday’s start at Cleveland for the third meeting with the Indians. Hughes comes off of a 3-1 defeat Toronto where he gave up all three runs on five hits including a pair of bombs over 5.2 frames.

The Cleveland Indians might be playing out the string although they are dangerous when the bats get going. The Indians had lost five of six before Saturday’s lopsided win. Starter Trevor Bauer was charged with all four runs over 6.1 frames to get the win with a monster 19 hit, eight walk attack. Jerry Sands hit a grand slam and Abraham Almonte went deep wit two RBI’s and three runs. Jose Ramirez drove in three and scored twice while Francisco Lindor knocked in two more. Overall every player that stepped on the field reached base. The Indians are slated to start Corey Kluber against visiting Minnesota in Sunday action. Kluber was hit hard in a 5-4 loss to the Angels with all five runs given up on ten hits over 5.2 innings.
Minnesota are 3-14 in their last 17 games as an underdog and are 2-8 in their last 10 road games while the under is 10-4-2 in their last 16 road games. Cleveland are 1-9 in their last 10 home games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 overall and is 6-2 in the Indians last 8 on grass. I’m going with Cleveland and hoping they saved some runs for Kluber…
