The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Philadelphia Phillies face off on Wednesday afternoon as they finish their MLB series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks rode a huge offensive effort on Tuesday to a blowout win over the Phillies. David Peralta, Jarrod Slatalamacchia, and Aaron Hill each hit home runs as the Diamondbacks scored 13 runs on 15 hits. Starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson allowed seven hits and a run while striking out six over 8.0 innings to get the win and move to 8-8 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Chase Anderson who has allowed 112 hits and 51 earned runs while striking out 74 over 112 innings for a 5-4 record and a 4.10 ERA.

The Philadelphia Phillies simply had no answers on Tuesday as they were routed by the Diamondbacks. Chase Utley and Cameron Rupp had two hits each and Ryan Howard had a hit as the Phillies scored one run on eight hits. Starting pitcher David Buchanan allowed 11 hits and 11 runs while striking out just one and lasting just 1.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-7 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Phillies start Aaron Nola who has allowed 21 hits and 10 runs while striking out 21 over 24.2 innings for a 2-1 record and a 3.65 ERA.
Arizona is 6-1 in their last seven games as a home favorite, 4-1 in game three of a series, and 4-1 in Anderson’s last five starts as a home favorite. Philadelphia is 16-7 in their last 23 games, 12-5 in their last 17 games against a right-handed starter, and 21-48 in their last 69 road games. Philadelphia is 4-2 in their last six meetings with Arizona.
The Phillies have looked bad before but we have seen them look good in recent weeks so I expect them to put Tuesday in the rear view mirror and get the win here.
