The Cleveland Indians continue their series with the New York Yankees at Progressive Field.
The New York Yankees look to break out of their mini slide before it becomes too big. The Yankees couldn’t get the job done with a 5-4, 16 inning loss at Progressive Field. Luis Severino gave up a pair of runs over seven frames with Andrew Miller allowing two more with Branden Pinder taking the loss with a run plated in the 16th. Carlos Beltran and Stephen Drew connected on solo homers while Chase Headley knocked in Beltran and Didi Gregorius. Veteran CC Sabathia takes the hill against the Indians for the first time since 2013. Sabathia comes a strong effort in a 2-1 win versus the Red Sox with the lone run plated on three hits in six frames.

The Cleveland Indians still have hopes of reaching the .500 mark and need to win series. The Indians blew a late lead before finally winning in 16 frames for their third consecutive victory. Starter Carlos Carrasco was outstanding with a pair of runs on solo jacks through eight frames before Brian Shaw blew the save with a pair of runs plated but fortunately five relievers held the Yankees to a mere one hit over six innings. The Tribe pounded out 17 hits and walked three times with Carlos Santana knocking in two with Jose Ramirez and Michael Brantley each driving in a run and scoring. Cleveland hands the ball to Danny Salazar for his first career match up with the Yankees. Salazar did not get a decision in a 4-3 road loss to the Angels with a solo homer served up over six innings.
The under is 8-2 in New York’s last 10 games as an underdog while New York are 16-5 in Sabathia’s last 21 Wednesday starts with the over going 11-4 in Sabathia’s last 15 Wednesday starts. Cleveland are 3-9 in their last 12 home games and is 6-2 in their last 8 Wednesday games. The Yankees are 28-12 in the last 40 meetings. Looks like a coin flip to me…
