The Minnesota Twins look to cool off the visiting Texas Rangers in Wednesday night action.
The Texas Rangers have been hot and col this season and right now they are playing well. The Rangers coughed up a late lead and let one get away in a 3-2 loss at Target Field on Tuesday. Starter Yovani Gallardo tossed a two hit shutout over 5.2 frames before Jake Diekman gave up two in the 8th with Spencer Patton allowing a run in the 9th to absorb the loss. The Rangers managed eight hits and waked twice with Elvis Andrus smacking a two run bomb in the second that scored Josh Hamilton.Nicholas Martinez looks for another quality start when he opposes Minnesota for the second time. Martinez was at his best in a 4-3 win versus Houston with a run given up on a hit and three BB in five innings.

The Minnesota Twins looked like a sure fire bet to snag a Wild Card but have been in a tailspin. The Twins halted their tailspin for a day with Wednesday’s victory but the team has still dropped eight of eleven. Starter Kyle Gibson gave up both runs on seven hits through six frames while four relievers allowed just one hit. The Twins posted six hits and walked five times with Joe Mauer and Eduardo Escobar knocking in runs and scoring while Miguel Sano drove in a run. Mike Pelfrey hopes for a return to his early season success when he opposes the Rangers for the second time. Pelfrey was hit hard in a 10-9 win at Cleveland with seven runs given up on ten hit over 3.2 frames.
Texas are 7-1 in their last 8 games as an underdog and are 8-3 in their last 11 overall while the Rangers are 8-3 in their last 11 games on grass. Minnesota are 5-16 in their last 21 overall and the over is 9-3 in their last 12 on grass while the Twins are 2-6 in their last 8 home games. I’m not fond of either hurler so I’m looking at the better odds…
