The Milwaukee Brewers conclude their trip to Wrigley Field with the rival Chicago Cubs on Thursday.
The Milwaukee Brewers are in a position to give a few new faces a look with an eye to 2016. The Brewers gave the Cubs all they could handle in a 3-2, ten inning defeat at Wrigley Field on Wednesday. Starter Matt Garza gave up two runs on three hits over seven frames for a no decision with Michael Blazek serving up a walkoff jack in the 10th. The Brew Crew managed six hits with Ryan Braun cracking a solo homer with a pair of runs. Rookie Tyler Cravy gets the call to the mound in the final game of the series at Chicago. Cravy struggled in his third start in a 6-0 loss to the Cardinals with all six runs allowed on eight hits in five frames.

The Chicago Cubs are making a run at the Cardinals in the National League Central and can they finish the deal? The Cubs continued to win and have now won eleven of 12. Starter Jason Hammel surrendered a solo bomb over 5.2 frames with Hector Rondon allowing an unearned run for a blown save. The Cubbies logged four hits and walked three times with Addison Russell knocking in a run while Kris Bryant and Miguel Montero homered with Montero scoring twice. Veteran left hander Jon Lester opposes the visiting Brewers Thursday for the second time in 2015. Lester comes off of a 7-3 win versus San Francisco where he gave up two runs on six hits over seven innings.
Milwaukee are 1-7 in their last 8 games as an underdog and are 5-12 in their last 17 overall while going 5-12 in their last 17 games on grass. Chicago are 11-1 in their last 12 games as a favorite and are 11-1 in their last 12 overall while the Cubs are 11-1 in their last 12 games on grass. I’ll back the hooter squad and hope the streak continues…
