The Arizona Diamondbacks begin a road swing Friday with Turner Field and the Atlanta Braves being their first stop.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are a game below .500 so if they do some winning they could be a factor in the postseason although it’s a long shot. The Diamondbacks saw a three game winning streak end in a 7-6 loss to Philadelphia on Wednesday. The pitching failed them with Chase Anderson allowing five runs on nine hits over five frames with Keith Hessler allowing two in 1/3 of an inning. Paul Goldschmidt led a 16 hit attack with a 3-4 night with two RBI’s and a pair of runs with Jake Lamb knocking in two more while Ender Inciarte scored twice. Robbie Rays faces the Braves for the first time in his career on Friday night. Ray is coming off of a 4-1 loss to Cincinnati where he gave up three runs on five hits including a pair of homers in six frames.

The Atlanta Braves are third in the National League East with no chance at moving up or down. The Braves dropped their third straight by a 9-6 count at Tampa Bay as they blew a 6-3 lead. Matt Wisler was charged with two runs through five frames before Matt Marksberry allowed five runs (three earned)in 2/3 of an inning. The Bravos totaled nine hits and walked three times with Pedro Ciriaco going 2-3 with a homer and four RBI’s with Joseph Terdoslavich logging two hits and scoring twice.Julio Teheran opens the series on the mound versus the Diamondbacks looking for his third win in a row. Teheran defeated Miami 6-3 last time out with all three runs scored on six hits in 6.2 innings.
The over is 9-1-1 in Arizona’s last 11 road games and the under is 7-2-1 in their last 10 Friday games while the over is 11-4-1 in the Diamondbacks last 16 overall. The over is 7-1-2 in Atlanta’s last 10 on grass and is 8-2-2 in the Braves last 12 overall while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 Friday games. Arizona are 5-16 in the last 21 meetings in Atlanta. The Braves really aren’t a good team and I doubt I touch this…
