The Miami Marlins had hits in Friday’s game but they were unable to convert them to runs as they took the loss in St. Louis. Starting pitcher Tom Koehler allowed five hits and two runs while striking out two over 7.0innings to take the loss and fall to 8-10 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Marlins start Brad hand who has allowed 58 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 36 over 56.2 innings for a 2-2 record and a 4.29 ERA.
St. Louis is 9-2 against the NL East, 8-2 in their last 10 games, and 15-3 in Lackey’s last 18 starts. Miami is 7-16 in their last 23 games against the NL Central, 5-15 in their last 20 games, and 8-21 in Hand’s last 29 starts. Miami is 8-21 in their last 29 games against St. Louis.
The Cardinals drop off in a big way against lefties as far as batting average so while it is a reach I will take a shot at the big price with the Marlins.
