The Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox conclude their weekend series at Fenway Park on Sunday.
The Seattle Mariners are hoping to salvage the final game of their series at Fenway Park on Sunday. The Mariners took one on the chin Saturday in a 22-10 loss at Boston where the pitching struggled. Felix Hernandez was hit hard with ten runs allowed on 12 hits including three homers in 2.1 frames while four of five relievers allowed 12 runs. The offense did most of their damage late on 13 hits with Austin Jackson, Nelson Cruz going deep and driving in three runs each while Mike Zunino went solo. Vidal Nuno makes his third start of the year since coming out of the bullpen. Nuno threw the ball well last time out in a 3-2 loss to Baltimore with two runs scored on five hits in five innings of work.

The Boston Red Sox have been swinging the bats well lately and the result has been a pair of one sided victories. The offense has now put up 37 runs in consecutive victories with starter Wade Miley dominated the Mariners with a pair of runs given up over seven innings before the pen got blasted for eight runs. The Red Sox amassed 26 hits with Jackie Bradley Jr. slamming three bombs and driving in seven with five runs. Blake Swihart smacked two homers and drove in three with four runs while David Ortiz and Brock Holt went deep and combined for five RBI’s. Rookie Henry Owens takes the mound for the third start of his career when he faces the Mariners. Owens picked up a 7-2 win at Detroit with a run given up on three hits and four BB in five frames.
