he Arizona Diamondbacks visit Great American Ball Park to face the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday.
The Arizona Diamondbacks might be better then we have seen them in recent years but they are still below .500 and I don’t consider any team a playoff threat that doesn’t have a winning record at this point. The Diamondbacks fell another game off the pace in a 4-1 loss at Pittsburgh Wednesday as the offense never got going. Starter Robbie Ray dropped to 3-9 with three runs plated on seven hits over six frames and that was too much for Zona’s four hit, three walk attack. Paul Goldschmidt singled in Ender Inciarte with the lone run. Left hander Patrick Corbin gets the call to the mound against Cincinnati for the second time in 2015. Corbin is coming off of an 8-4 victory at Atlanta with a three hit shutout over 6.2 frames.

The Cincinnati Reds have struggled for the majority of the year and have shown no sign of letting up. The Reds struggles continued in a 4-3 loss to Kansas City on Wednesday for their 8th defeat in eleven contests. Starter Keyvius Sampson gave up all four runs on nine hits through 3.1 frames with three relievers holding the Royals offense at bay. The Reds managed nine hits and walked five times with Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips each connecting on solo homers. Rookie John Lamb makes his second career start when he opposes visiting Arizona on Thursday. Lamb lost his debut 5-3 to the Dodgers where he gave up five runs on eight hits over six innings.
The under is 10-4 in Arizona’s last 14 games as a favorite while the over is 7-3-1 in their last 11 Thursday games and is 11-5-1 in their last 17 road games. Cincinnati are 3-9 in their last 12 games as an underdog and the over is 6-2-1 in their last 9 Thursday games. The under is 53-20-6 in the last 79 meetings. I’ll back the Diamondbacks here because I don’t know what Lamb will do…
