The Kansas City Royals look to stay hot with a win at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox.
The Kansas City Royals are still trying to wrap up the American League Central crown and have been heading in that direction. The Royals had won eight of ten before struggling in a 4-1 defeat at Boston on Thursday. Starter Danny Duffy gave up all four runs on seven hits over five frames to absorb the loss. KC mustered six hits and walked eight times with Mike Moustakas clubbing his 12 long ball. Johnny Cueto toes the rubber against the Boston Red Sox for the first time in his career. In back to back wins Cueto has given up one run on 12 hits covering 17 innings pitched.

The Boston Red Sox are looking to be spoilers going forward and we’ll see if that role suits them. The Red Sox might have the beginning of a hot streak going after Thursday’s win was their third straight. Wade Miley was dominant on the mound with a solo homer accounting for the Royals scoring through six innings. The offense logged ten hits and walked twice with Ryan Hanigan driving in two and scoring while Travis Shaw went 2-3 with an RBI and run. The Red Sox send rookie Henry Owens to the bump for his 4th career start on Friday night. Owens comes off of a 10-8 loss to the Mariners where he gave up seven runs on ten hits over six innings.
The under is 7-1-1 in Kansas City’s last 9 Friday games while the Royals are 38-16 in their last 54 games as a favorite and are 38-18 in their last 56 games on grass. The over is 14-3 in Boston’s last 17 home games and the over is 22-6-1 in their last 29 overall while Boston are 7-3 in their last 10 home games. Kansas City are 2-8 in the last 10 meetings and are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Boston. Boston has played the Royals tough but I’ll side with KC and Cueto…
