The Phils totaled 12 hits and walked four times with Cody Asche smacking a solo homer while Freddy Galvis went 2-4 with a pair of RBI’s and two runs. Aaron Altherr scored twice and Caesar Hernandez knocked in a run and also scored. Jerad Eickhoff makes his major league debut after coming over from the Rangers in part of the trade for Cole Hamels. The Miami Marlins have been playing well and that has gotten them out of the National League East. The Marlins have won four of fiver after knocking off the Phillies Thursday as they survived a pen meltdown. Starter Brad Hand allowed a lone run over six frames before Scott McGough and Bryan Morris allowed five runs in 1.1 innings. The Fish pounded out eleven hits and walked seven times with Martin Prado going deep and driving in three and scoring twice while Marcell Ozuna homered and drove in two and scored two times. Miami hands the ball to rookie Kendry Flores who comes out of the bullpen to make his first career start. Flores has made six appearances spanning 7.2 innings where he has gone 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA.
I don’t know if any trends can be depended on here for a few reasons. Both teams have nothing to play for as far as the postseason is concerned but neither wants to finish in the basement in the National League East which is really at stake. The second is we have a pair of rookie hurlers going at it and to be honest I don’t know what to expect from either so take this with a grain of salt…
