The San Diego Padres look to stay hot when the St Louis Cardinals pay a visit on Friday.

The Cards logged nine hits and a pair of BB with Yadier Molina going 3-4 with a homer and two RBI’s while Stephen Piscotty went solo. Veteran John Lackey draws the start against San Diego in the series opener Friday. Lackey will be shooting for back to back wins after knocking off Miami 6-2 with both runs plated on nine hits in 8.1 frames.

The San Diego Padres are playing some of their best baseball of the season although it might be too late to do much in the standings. The Padres have won seven of ten after defeating visiting Atlanta 3-2. Starter Tyson Ross led the sweep of the Braves with a run allowed on six hits through six innings but did not receive the win. The offense did their damage on eight hits and a pair of free passes with Yangervis Solarte going 3-3 with a homer and a pair of RBI’s while Austin Hedges doubled in a run.San Diego gives the ball to Andrew Cashner who faces the Cardinals for the second time in 2015. Cashner comes off of a 7-5 win at Colorado where he allowed four runs on seven hits in five innings.
