The Minnesota Twins had been fading but they have to be feeling good about themselves after a four game road sweep of the Orioles. The Twins outlasted theO’s4-3 in 12 innings Sunday behind outstanding work from the bullpen. Starter Mike Pelfrey gave up all three runs on nine hits through 4.2 frames with seven relievers putting up zeros. Miguel Sano led a seven hit attack with a 2-5 game including a homer and two RBI’s. The Twins open the series on the hill with Ervin Santana who comes off a 4-3 road loss to the Yankees. Santana lasted 7.2 frames but was done in by a pair of two run homers.

The Tampa Bay Rays are still holding out hopes of a Wild Card berth but they have little room for error. The Rays saw a three game winning streak come to an end in an 8-2 loss at Oakland on Sunday. Jake Odorizzi gave up just two runs through six frames but Steven Geltz gave up four and Matt Andriese allowed two in a seven run 7th. TB managed seven hits and walked four times with Rene Rivera and Desmond Jennings driving in runs. Tampa Bay is slated to send Nathan Karns to the hill to oppose Minnesota for the second time in his career. Karns comes off of a 3-2 loss at Houston where he allowed one run over six innings.
