The Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays face off on Wednesday in Arlington as they continue their MLB series of post-season hopefuls.
The Texas Rangers appeared to be on their way to a win on Tuesday but they let it get away as they lost to the Blue Jays. Delino Deshields Jr. and Rougned Odor each hit home runs and Adrian Beltre and Shin-Soo Choo each had two hits as the Rangers scored five runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Derek Holland allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out three over 7.0 innings to not get a decision as Shawn Tolleson took the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Rangers start Colby Lewis who has allowed 158 hits and 76 earned runs while striking out 116 over 159.1 innings for a 14-5 record and a 4.29 ERA.

The Toronto Blue jays never gave up on Tuesday and they got the win giving them a one game lead atop the American League East. Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, and Chris Colabello each hit home runs as the Blue Jays scored six runs on nine hits. Starting pithcer Mark Buehrle allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out three over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as LaTroy Hawkins got the win and Roberto Osuna earned his 15th save. For Wednesday’s game the Blue Jays start David Price who since he has been traded to Toronto has allowed 23 hits and six runs while striking out 33 over 30.1 innings for a 3-0 record and a 1.78 ERA.
Texas is 5-1 against the American League East, Texas is 9-3 in their last 12 games, and 6-1 in Lewis’ last seven starts. Toronto is 7-0 against the AL West, 7-2 in game two of a series, and 36-16 as a favorite. Toronto is 7-1 in their last eight games in Texas.
