The Washington Nationals shoot for another win against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.
The San Diego Padres have been playing their best baseball of the season although it might be too late to make a difference. The red hot Padres had won seven of ten heading in to Tuesday against Washington where the fell 8-3. Starter James Shields was charged with five runs over 5.2 frames with the pen allowing three runs. The offense logged seven hits and a BB with Jedd Gyorko going 2-4 with a pair of long balls and three runs driven in. Tyson Ross will be on the bump to face the Nationals for the first time in 2015. Ross defeated Atlanta 3-2 last time out with a run allowed on six hits over six innings of work.

The Washington Nationals are simply trying to right the ship and make a run at the postseason. The Nationals might have something going with their third straight win following Tuesdays victory. Starter Stephen Strasburg allowed two runs through six innings to up his record to 8-6 while striking out seven. The Nats ten hit, seven walk attack was more then enough with Ryan Zimmerman clubbing a grand slam with Wilson Ramos connecting on a two run jack. Max Scherzer toes the rubber against visiting San Diego on Wednesday night. Scherzer has put up some outstanding numbers but is just 11-10 despite a 2.79 ERA in 25 starts.
The over is 10-2 in San Diego’s last 12 road games and they are 2-8 in their last 10 Wednesday games while the over is 19-7 in their last 26 overall. The over is 10-1-2 in Washington’s last 13 home games and is 13-5-2 in their last 20 games as a favorite while the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 Wednesday games. The over is 13-6-1 in the last 20 meetings. I’m going with the better hurler and hoping the Nationals show up which is no sure thing…
