The surging Houston Astros battle the surging Minnesota Twins at Target Field on Friday night.
The Houston Astros are refusing to give ground to the teams chasing them in the American League West. The Astros have won seven of ten after a 6-2 win at the Yankees on Wednesday. Collin McHugh improved to 14-7 with both runs plated on five hits over 6.1 innings. The Stros did their damage on ten hits and a trio of BB with Evan Gattis clubbing a pair of long balls while Jake Marisnick drove in a run and scored. Left hander Scott Kazmir shoots for consecutive victories when he opposes Minnesota for the third time in 2015. Kazmir comes off of a 3-1 win versus the Dodgers where he allowed a run on six hits in six frames.

The Minnesota Twins are hoping to stay hot and challenge for a Wild Card position. The Twins hot streak ended at six games with a 5-4 defeat at Tropicana Field on Thursday night. Starter Tommy Milone allowed all five runs (four earned) on eight hits through 5.1 frames to absorb the loss. The offense consisted of nine hits and a pair of bases on balls with Eduardo Escobar knocking in a run and scoring while Kurt Suzuki drove in a run and scored. Minnesota sends Kyle Gibson to the bump for the first time in 2015 against the Astros. Gibson has been either good or bad lately and he was good in a 3-2 win at Baltimore with both runs scored in 5.2 innings.
The under is 7-2 in Houston’s last 9 overall and is 7-2 in their last 9 on grass while going 15-5-1 in their last 21 road games. The under is 7-2 in Minnesota’s last 9 home games and the over is 8-2 in Gibson’s last 10 Friday starts while the under is 7-3-2 in Gibson’s last 12 on grass. I don’t have a clue of which Gibson shows up and I don’t believe the Twins know either…
