The Pittsburgh Pirates look to log a win versus the Colorado Rockies in Saturday action.
The Colorado Rockies are trying to finish the season strong and perhaps take down a few playoff contenders. The Rockies saw their chance at a three game winning streak go by the wayside in a 5-3 defeat at PNC Park on Friday. Jonathan Gray lasted 4.1 innings with three runs scored on seven hits with Scott Oberg giving up two runs to absorb the loss. Jose Reyes paced the attack with a homer and a pair of RBI’s while Carlos Gonzalez launched a solo shot. Christopher Rusin looks to get back in the win column against the Pirates in game two of their series. Rusin is coming off the poorest outing of his career in a 14-9 loss to the Mets with eleven runs scored in two innings.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have been on fire as they try to track down St Louis for the National League Central lead. The Pirates stayed hot with Friday’s for their 9th in eleven games. Starter Francisco Liriano allowed all three runs through six innings but did not receive a decision with three relievers putting up zeros. The Buccos did their damage on ten hits and five walks with Jung-ho Kang knocking in a pair while Gregory Polanco went 3-5 with an RBI and a pair of runs. Left hander JA Happ hopes to continue his hot work on the mound when he opposes Colorado. Happ has not allowed a run in back to back victories where he allowed six hits and a trio of BB in 12 frames.
Colorado are 4-12 in their last 16 overall and are 4-12 in their last 16 games on grass while going 30-77 in their last 107 road games. The under is 6-1-1 in Pittsburgh’s last 8 games as a favorite while the Pirates are 49-17 in their last 66 games as a favorite and are 38-14 in their last 52 home games. I’m riding the hot team but hate the juice with Happ…
