Marlon Byrd hit a home run and Brandon Belt and Gregor Blanco each had two hits as the Giants scored five runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Mike Leake allowed six hits and four runs while striking out four over 6.1 innings to not factor in the decision as Javier Lopez got the win. For Saturday’s game the Giants start Ryan Vogelsong who has allowed 115 hits and 54 earned runs while striking out 96 over 120 innings for a 9-9 record and a 4.05 ERA.

The St. Louis Cardinals rallied to tie the Giants on Friday but in the end they came up short and took the loss. Stephen Piscotty had two hits and Yadier Molina and Matt Carpenter had hits as the Cardinals scored four runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Michael Wacha allowed six hits and four runs while striking out six over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as Kevin Siegrist took the loss to fall to 5-1 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Cardinals start Lance Lynn who has allowed 137 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 146 over 140.2 innings for a 10-8 record and a 2.94 ERA.

San Francisco is 5-1 as a home underdog, 22-6 in their last 28 home games, and 9-2 in Vogelsong’s last 11 home starts. St. Louis is 5-2 in their last seven games, 9-3 in their last 12 game two of a series, and 4-0 in Lynn’s last four starts as a road favorite. St. Louis is 2-6 in the last eight meetings with San Francisco.
