The Texas Rangers and the Baltimore Orioles face off on Saturday at Globe Life Ballpark for game two of their MLB series.
The Texas Rangers looked dominant on Friday as they beat the Orioles to take game one of the series. Shin-Soo Choo and Chris Gimenez each hit home runs and Adrian Beltre and Delino DeShields Jr. each had two hits as the Rangers scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Cole Hamels allowed two hits and a run while striking out 10 over 8.0 innings to get the win and go to 2-1 for the season and Shawn Tolleson earned his 27th save. For Saturday’s game the Rangers start Martin Perez who has allowed 45 hits and 22 earned runs while striking out 21 over 37.1 innings for a 1-3 record and a 5.30 ERA.

The Baltimore Orioles scored early on Friday but they were unable to make it hold up as they lost to the Rangers on Friday. Adam Jones, Matt Wieters, and Paul Janish each had hits as the Orioles scored one run on three hits. Starting pitcher Kevin Gausman allowed nine hits and four runs while striking out three over 6.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-6 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Orioles start Ubaldo Jimenez who has allowed 145 hits and 67 earned runs while striking out 131 over 141.2 innings for a 9-8 record and a 4.26 ERA.
Texas is 5-1 against a team with a losing record, 11-4 in their last 15 games, and 1-4 in Perez’s last five starts as an underdog. Baltimore is 1-6 in their last six road games, 1-8 in their last nine road games, and 105 in Jimenez’s last six road starts. Baltimore is 6-2 in their last eight games in Texas.
