The Detroit Tigers have been in a bit of a funk lately and are just trying to shake it. That didn’t happen Saturday in a 15-1 loss at Toronto for their 8th loss in nine contests. Buck Farmer took the loss with six runs scored over four frames before Guido Knudson, Tom Gorzelanny and Alex Wilson each gave up three runs. The offense totaled seven hits with Ian Kinsler driving in Jose Iglesias with the only run.The Tigers send out Alfredo Simon to cool down the Blue Jays offense on Sunday afternoon. The Toronto Blue Jays own first in the American League East and now are looking to pull away. The Blue Jays are doing their part after Saturday’s win gave them victories in nine of eleven. Starter Drew Hutchison held the Tigers to seven hits and a run through seven frames to get the win but the offense was the story of the game. The Jays racked up 18 hits with Edwin Encarnacion ripping three homers and driving in nine with four runs. Russell Martin cracked a two run shot while Josh Donaldson knocked in two and scored twice. Veteran left hander Mark Buehrle looks to bounce back from consecutive poor starts when he faces Detroit. In those starts Buehrle has allowed nine runs on 14 hits over ten innings.
Detroit are 1-7 in their last 8 overall and are 1-7 in their last 8 Sunday games while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 overall. Toronto are 22-5 in their last 27 overall and the over is 7-2 in their last 9 overall while going 6-2 in their last 8 games as a favorite. The Tigers are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings. It’s hard to go against the Blue jays right now…
