The Houston Astros look to stretch their lead in the west when the rival Seattle Mariners visit.
The Seattle Mariners have their sights set on reaching .500 and have been playing well. The Mariners had won five of seven before a 6-5, eleven inning defeat at the White Sox on Sunday. Starter Edgar Olmos gave up three runs over five frames before David Rollins gave up the winner in the 11th to get the loss. The M’s banged out 12 hits and walked three times. Austin Jackson homer, drove in two and scored three times while Kyle Seager went deep and knocked in three. Vidal Nuno is slated to be on the hill against the Astros in his 5th start of the season. Nuno was outstanding in a 6-3 loss to the White Sox with a single run allowed on five hits in 6.2 innings.

The Houston Astros can probably smell the American League West title but there is too much season remaining to begin celebrating. A 7-5 defeat at Minnesota was a step in the wrong direction with the work on the mound struggling and the offense doing all their scoring in the 9th. Lance McCullers gave up three runs through six frames with Chad Qualls and Oliver Perez allowing two runs apiece. The Stros mustered 12 hits with Chris Carter smacking a three run homer while Jose Altuve connected on a two run bomb. Left hander Dallas Keuchel makes his second start of the year versus the visiting Mariners. Keuchel comes off of a 15-1 rout of the Yankees where he tossed seven scoreless innings.
Seattle are 1-7 in their last 8 Monday games and the over is 7-2-1 in their last 10 overall while the over is 7-2-1 in their last 10 on grass. The under is 9-2 in Houston’s last 11 overall and is 9-2 in their last 11 on grass while the Astros are 6-2 in their last 8 overall. Seattle are 1-8 in the last 9 meetings in Houston and the over is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings in Houston. I think Keuchel has the upper hand here…
