The Philadelphia Phillies head to the Big Apple to take the field with the New York Mets.
The Philadelphia Phillies are a mystery with all the new faces and that probably won’t change for awhile. The Phillies chance at a three game winning streak and a sweep of the Padres didn’t last long in a 9-4 loss. Rookie Alex Asher’s debut wasn’t good wit four runs plated on eight hits including two homers over 5.2 frames before the pen was charged with five runs. The Phils posted ten hits with Cameron Rupp going solo with Cesar Hernandes driving in a run and scoring. Rookie Jerad Eickhoff makes his third career start and second straight against the Mets. Eickhoff dropped a 9-4 decision to New York with four runs scored (three earned) over six frames.

The New York Mets have got to prevent losing streaks with Washington waiting in the wings to snatch away the NL East lead. The Mets held their ground Sunday in a 5-4 win against the visiting Red Sox. Starter Noah Sndergaard allowed all four runs on six hits through 6.2 innings but not get a decision. New York put together an eleven hit, two walk attack that saw Juan Uribe drive in two runs while Daniel Murphy scored twice with Michael Cuddyer drove in a run and scored two runs.Veteran Bartolo Colon takes the mound against the visiting Phillies in the series opener on Monday. Colon defeated the Phillies 9-4 the last time out with a five hit shutout in seven frames.
Philadelphia are 8-1 in their last 9 Monday games. New York are 8-1 in their last 9 Monday games and the over is 11-2 in their last 13 overall while going 11-2 in their last 13 on grass. The over is 55-21-5 in the last 81 meetings and Philadelphia are 16-35 in the last 51 meetings. The Phillies just have problems with the Mets which annoys me to high heaven…
