The Texas Rangers look to stay in the playoff conversation when they visit the San Diego Padres.

The Texas Rangers are trying to keep the pressure on Houston in the American League West. The Rangers did just that with a 6-0 win versus Baltimore with great efforts in all phases. Starter Derek Holland was at the top of his game with a complete game three hitter while whiffing eleven. The offense totaled eleven hits and walked three times with Delino DeShields Jr., Adrian Beltre and Elvis Andrus driving in runs and scoring. The Rangers open the series with Colby Lewis on the hill who opposes San Diego for the second time in 2015. Lewis will be looking to bounce back from a 12-4 loss to Toronto where he allowed five runs on six hits and four BB in five frames.

San Diego Padres vs. Texas Rangers - 8/31/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The San Diego Padres drive to reach .500 has taken a hit over the past week or so. The Padres had lost five of six before routing the Phillies 9-4 to avoid the sweep. James Shields contained the Phillies attack with  a solo homer served up through seven frames while striking out eight before Odrisamer Despagne allowed three late runs. SD pounded out 16 hits with Yangervis Solarte, Matt Kemp and Justin Upton smacking long balls while Clint Barmes and Yonder Alonso scored twice. The Padres are slated to start Tyson Ross for the second time against the Rangers. Ross comes off of a 6-5 decision at Washington where he gave up four runs on six hits over 6.1 frames.

The under is 10-2-1 in Texas last 13 on grass and the under is 10-2-1 in their last 13 overall while the Rangers  are 7-2 in their last 9 Monday games. The over is 7-1 in San Diego’s last 8 home games while the over is 21-7-1 in their last 29 overall and  is 21-7-1 in their last 29 on grass. The under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings There doesn’t seem to be a night and day difference so for now the home team is the way I’m looking…
