The Arizona Diamondbacks battle the Colorado Rockies in game one of their doubleheader on Tuesday.
The Arizona Diamondbacks lone goal is to finish above .500 and prepare in the offseason for 2016. The Diamondbacks are still mathematically alive in the National League West race but that would take an unbelievable run to end the regular season while both the Dodgers and Giants would both have to fall off the map. Possible? Yes. Likely? Not really. The Snakes are definitely within reach of .500 but need a few more pieces to take the next step and whether they can find those pieces will be the question in the off season. Left hander Patrick Corbin draws the game one start against the rival Rockies on Tuesday. Corbin is coming off of a 3-1 loss to St Louis where he gave up a run on three hits in six frames.

It’s been a long season for the Colorado Rockies who have been well known for their ability to hit and score. The thin air at Coors Field has been credited for much of that offensive success which is likely true but their scoring can come and go regardless of the venue. The work on the mound has been good and bad as well with Coors being a field that isn’t friendly to ERA’s but the arms are similar to the bats in that both can come and go. The bottom line is that both have been inconsistent and that explains their record. The Rockies open the day with Yohan Flande on the hill to face the Diamondbacks for the first time in 2015. Flande picked up a 6-3 decision at Atlanta with all three runs allowed on six hits over five innings.
Arizona are 3-8 in their last 11 Tuesday games and the over is 14-6-1 in their last 21 road games while going 18-7-1 in Corbin’s last 26 road starts. Colorado are 5-14 in their last 19 overall and are 5-14 in their last 19 games on grass while going 16-39 in their last 55 games as an underdog. The over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Colorado while Arizona is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings. I give a slight edge to Arizona but not the strongest play on the board...
