The Los Angeles Angels got off to an early lead on Monday but they joy was short lived as they lost to the A’s. Erick Aybar had three hits and Albert Pujols and Shane Victorino each had two hits as the Angels scored five runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Hector Santiago allowed four hits and five runs while striking out four over 2.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 7-9 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Angels start Matt Shoemaker who has allowed 124 hits and 62 earned runs while striking out 110 over 124.2 innings for a 6-9 record and a 4.48 ERA.
Oakland is 7-0 as a home underdog, 7-2 in their last nine home games, 12-5 against the AL West. Los Angeles is 2-9 in their last 11 games, 1-6 against the AL West, and 16-5 in Shoemaker’s last 21 starts.
The Angels have been dreadful of late but I see them holding it together long enough to get a win in this one.
