The Baltimore Orioles look to end their slump against visiting Tampa Bay in Wednesday action.
The Tampa Bay Rays are trying to keep their slim postseason hopes alive although the competition is stiff. The Rays ran their winning streak to three games after routing Baltimore 11-2 on Tuesday. Starter Drew Smyly picked up the win with seven scoreless innings and the generally quiet TB attack took over in a big way with 15 hits and four walks. JP Arencibia went 3-4 with a homer and six RBI’s with Asdrubal Cabrera knocking in two more while Brandon Guyer scored three times. The Rays turn to Erasmo Ramirez to complete the road sweep of Baltimore. Ramirez is coming off of a 3-2 defeat to Kansas City with all three runs scored on six hits and three BB over 4.1 frames.

The Baltimore Orioles are in the midst of what might be a season ending slump as far as the playoffs are concerned. The Orioles slump extended for another day with neither their arms or bats doing much. Starter Chris Tillman was charged with seven runs over 4.2 innings while three relievers allowed four runs. The O’s were held to six hits and a walk with Chris Davis cracking a two run homer that scored Jimmy Paredes. Kevin Gausman toes the rubber against visiting Tampa Bay for the first time this year. Gausman suffered a 4-1 loss at Texas last time out with all four runs given up on nine hits in 6.2 innings.
Tampa Bay are 1-8 in their last 9 Wednesday games and the over is 7-2 in their last 9 overall while going 6-2 in their last 8 Wednesday games. Baltimore are 1-11 in their last 12 overall and are 1-11 in their last 12 games on grass while the under is 21-9-2 in their last 32 Wednesday games. The under is 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings. I think the Orioles can win this one but I’m not paying to see it because they stink right now…
