The Kansas City Royals and the Detroit Tigers face off on Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium as they continue their MLB series of American League Central teams.
The Kansas City Royals tried to mount a late rally on Tuesday but they came u short as they lost to the Tigers. Kendrys Morales hit a home run, Salvador Perez had three hits, and Alex Gordon had two hits as the Royals scored five runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Johnny Cueto allowed nine hits and four runs while striking out two over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-4 since being traded the KC. For Wednesday’s game the Royals start Yordano Ventura who has allowed 113 hits and 59 earned runs while striking out 107 over 120.1 innings for a 9-7 record and a 4.41 ERA.

The Detroit Tigers got the lead early on Tuesday and held on for the win as they beat the Royals. Ian Kinsler hit a home run and Anthony Gose, Miguel Cabrera, and Tyler Collins had two hits each as the Tigers scored six runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Justin Verlander allowed seven hits and four runs, two earned, while striking out four over 6.2 innings to get the win and raise his record to 3-6 and Bruce Rondon earned his third save. For Wednesday’s game the Tigers start Randy Wolf who has allowed 14 hits and four runs while striking out 10 over 14 innings for a 0-2 record and a 2.57 ERA.
Kansas City is 38-16 as a favorite, 6-1 in game two of a series, and 4-0 in Ventura’s last four home starts. Detroit is 3-8 against a team with a winning record, 4-13 following a win, and 2-7 in their last nine games as an underdog.
The Tigers did a nice job Tuesday but look for the Royals to get it done here as they are a better team.
