Yangervis Solarte had four hits including a home run, Jedd Gyorko hit a home run, and Justin Upton and Derek Norris each had three hits as the Padres scored 10 runs on 15 hits. Starting pitcher Colin Rea allowed four hits and two runs while striking out six over 5.0 innings to not get a decision as Kevin Quackenbush got the win to raise his record to 3-2 for the season and Joaquin Benoit earned the save. For Friday’s game the Padres start James Shields who has allowed 163 hits and 72 earned runs while striking out 184 over 171.1 innings for a 10-6 record and a 3.78 ERA.

The Los Angeles Dodgers appeared to have rallied for the win on Thursday but they let it get away as they took the loss. Chase Utley, Carl Crawford, and Corey Seager each had two hits as the Dodgers scored seven runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Mat Latos allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out three over 4.0 innings to not get a decision as Jim Johnson took the loss. For Friday’s game the Dodgers start Mike Bolsinger who has allowed 79 hits and 28 earned runs while striking out 78 over 89 innings for a 5-3 record and a 2.83 ERA.
