From a competitive standpoint the Boston Red Sox are not going anywhere this season although they have shown some signs of improvement. The Red Sox had dropped three of four before upending the visiting Phillies in the series opener. Starter Joe Kelly continued his resurgence with a pair of runs given up through six innings to pick up the win. Jackie Bradley Jr. led a ten hit attack with a homer and two runs while Xander Bogaerts drove in a pair and Mookie Betts scored twice.Boston turns to left hander Wade Miley to control the Philadelphia offense on Saturday. On the season Miley has gone 10-10 with a 4.57 ERA covering 27 outings.
The over is 7-2-1 in Philadelphia’s last 10 on grass and is 7-2-1 in their last 10 overall while going 7-2-1 in their last 10 games as an underdog. The over is 13-3 in Boston’s last 16 games as a favorite and is 16-4-1 in their last 21 home games while going 25-8-2 in their last 35 overall. Philadelphia are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in Boston and the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Boston. I don’t know what we’ll see from Asher so perhaps a small over play…
