The Philadelphia Phillies butt heads with the Boston Red Sox in an interleague tilt.

The Philadelphia Phillies are trying to escape the National League East basement but they have not been successful.  The Phillies did themselves no favors in a 7-5 loss at Fenway Park on Friday. Rookie Adam Morgan dropped to 5-5 with six runs allowed on eight hits over 6.1 frames. The Phils logged eleven hits and walked three times with Odrubel Herrera going deep and driving in two while Cesar Hernandez went 2-5 with a pair of runs. Rookie Alec Asher looks for his first major league win when he faces the Red Sox on Saturday. Asher dropped his debut by a 9-4 count to San Diego with four runs scored on eight hits in 5.2 frames.

Boston Red Sox vs. Philadelphia Phillies - 9/5/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

From a competitive standpoint the Boston Red Sox are not going anywhere this season although they have shown some signs of improvement. The Red Sox had dropped three of four before upending the visiting Phillies in the series opener.  Starter Joe Kelly continued his resurgence with a pair of runs given up through six innings to pick up the win. Jackie Bradley Jr. led a ten hit attack with a homer and two runs while Xander Bogaerts drove in a pair and Mookie Betts scored twice.Boston turns to left hander Wade Miley to control the Philadelphia offense on Saturday. On the season Miley has gone 10-10 with a 4.57 ERA covering 27 outings.

The over is 7-2-1 in Philadelphia’s last 10 on grass and is 7-2-1 in their last 10 overall while going 7-2-1 in their last 10 games as an underdog. The over is 13-3 in Boston’s last 16 games as a favorite and is 16-4-1 in their last 21 home games while going 25-8-2 in their last 35 overall. Philadelphia are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in Boston and the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Boston. I don’t know what we’ll see from Asher so perhaps a small over play…
