The Los Angeles Angel haven’t give up on their post season hopes yet as they beat the Rangers on Friday. C.J. Cron had three hits and Mike Trout and Kole Calhoun each scored twice as the Angels scored five runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Garrett Richards allowed five hits and two runs while striking out one over 6.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 13-10 for the season and Huston Street earned his 32nd save. For Saturday’s game the Angels start Jered Weaver who has allowed 133 hits and 69 earned runs while striking out 67 over 125.2 innings for a 6-10 record and a 4.94 ERA.

The Texas Rangers still control their own destiny for the post season but they lost a little ground as they fell to the Angels on Friday. Shin-Soo CHoo had three hits and Mitch Moreland and Elvis Andrus each had hits as the Rangers scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Martin Perez allowed five hits and three runs while striking out three over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-4 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rangers start Derek Holland who has allowed 20 hits and seven earned runs while striking out 20 over 22.1 innings for a 2-1 record and a 2.82 ERA.
Los Angeles is 5-9 in their last 14 games, 2-10 in game two of a series, and 46-16 in Weaver’s last 62 starts as a home favorite. Texas is 6-2 in their last eight games, 5-2 in their last seven road games, and 6-2 in Holland’s last eight starts. Texas is 7-22 in their last 29 meetings with Los Angeles.
