The Tampa Bay Rays will be in the Motor City to begin a series with the Detroit Tigers Monday.
The Tampa Bay Rays might be ready to call it a day as far as the postseason is concerned after blowing a 3-0 lead in a 6-4 defeat at the Yankees. Chris Archer gave up a 3-0 with five runs plated on six hits including a pair of homers to fall to 12-11. The Tampa Bay attack consisted of ten hits and a pair of bases on balls with Kevin Kiermaier clubbing a two run homer while Asdrubal Cabrera went solo and scored twice. Drew Smyly will be on the hill for his first career meeting against the Tigers. Smyly was outstanding last time out in an 11-2 rout of Baltimore wit ten strikeouts over seven scoreless innings.

The Detroit Tigers had hoped to finish the season strong but things haven’t panned out that way. The Tigers struggles continued with a 4-0 loss to visiting Cleveland on Sunday as the team has lost eight of eleven. Starter Justin Verlander fell to 3-7 with three runs on seven hits and a pair of BB through seven innings of work. The potent Detroit offense was held three hits and two walks with Dixon Machado, Victor Martinez and Tyler Collins recording hits. Veteran left hander Randy Wolf makes his 4th start of the season when he faces Tampa Bay Monday. Wolf struggled last time out in a 12-1 loss at Kansas City with eight runs scored on eight hits over 3.2 innings.
The over is 7-1-3 in Tampa Bay’s last 11 Monday games and is 9-4 in their last 13 overall while the under is 8-1 in Smyly’s last 9 road starts. Detroit are 3-12 in their last 15 overall and the under is 7-2 in their last 9 home games while the Tigers are 3-9 in their last 12 games on grass. I’m leaning Rays here but in all honesty they are not very good…
