The Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers face off on Tuesday in game two of their MLB series.
The Seattle Mariners couldn’t put their hits together on Monday as they lost to the Rangers. Robinson Cano had two hits and Mark Trumbo and Kyle Seager each had hits as the Mariners failed to score on seven hits. Starting pitcher Roenis Elias allowed five hits and two runs while striking out six over 5.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 4-8 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Mariners start Taijuan Walker who has allowed 153 hits and 80 earned runs while striking out 148 over 159.2 innings for a 10-7 record and a 4.51 ERA.

The Texas Rangers continued their sharp play as they beat the Mariners on Monday. Mike Napoli had three hits and Adrian Beltre and Shin Soo-Choo each had hits as the Rangers scored three runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Yovani Gallaedo allowed five hits and struck out four over 5.1 innings to get the win and raise his record to 12-9 for the season and Shawn Tolleson earned his 30th save. For Tuesday’s game the Rangers start Cole Hamels who has allowed 41 hits and 18 earned runs while striking out 41 over 41.2 innings for a 2-1 record and a 3.89 ERA since being traded to Texas.
Seattle is 5-1 in their last six games, 3-8 in their last 11 games as an underdog, and 13-3 in Walker’s last 16 starts. Texas is 8-0 in their last eight games as a favorite, 4-1 in game tow of a series, and 4-0 in Hamels last four starts as a favorite. Texas is 4-8 in their last 12 games against Seattle.
