The Tampa Bay Rays shoot for another win at Comerica Park versus the Detroit Tigers.
Unless the Tampa Bay Rays go on a prolonged hot streak and get some help they won’t be in the postseason. After Tuesday’s 8-7, 13 inning loss at Detroit I have to say the Rays playoff hopes are slim and none. Starter Erasmo Ramirez gave up four runs over five frames to blow a 5-1 lead with Andrew Bellatti losing it in the 13th. TB logged 13 hits and walked four times with Evan Longoria driving in three while Mikie Mahtook and Kevin Kiermaier scoring two times apiece. Tampa Bay is hoping Jake Odorizzi can bounce back from back to back poor outings. Odorizzi has given up a combined nine runs on ten hits and four BB covering 11.1 innings pitched.

The Detroit have suffered through a long season and would like nothing better to knock off a few playoff contenders. The Tigers likely ended the Rays postseason hopes with Tuesday’s victory behind a big offense. Starter Matt Boyd was charged with three runs through five innings with Al Alburquerque allowing two more. JD Martinez and Rajai Davis cracked long balls and drove in two runs each while Andrew Romine drove in two more. The Tigers hand the ball to Kyle Lobstein who makes his second start since coming off of the disabled list. Lobstein dropped an 8-1 defeat to Cleveland with six runs allowed on eight hits over 4.1 frames.
Tampa Bay are 1-9 in their last 10 Wednesday games and the over is 8-1-1 in their last 10 games as a favorite while going 6-2-1 in their last 9 road games. Detroit are 7-1 in their last 8 Wednesday games and the under is 8-2-1 in their last 11 home games while the Tigers are 3-10 in their last 13 games as an underdog. I favor the Rays but they won’t be getting my money…
