The Oakland Athletics will be shooting for another win at the Chicago White Sox in Wednesday action.
The Oakland Athletics have never gotten the ship pointed in the right direction and we won’t know if they do in the closing weeks. The slumping Athletics had lost seven of ten entering Tuesday’s bout at the White Sox before breaking loose for a 17-6 victory. Aaron Brooks allowed all six runs in six frames but that wa good enough with the bats pounding out 19 hits with Josh Reddick and Billy Butler driving in seven and scoring five times while Eric Sogard and Jake Smolinski knocked in two runs apiece. Right hander Cody Martin makes his second start since coming over from the Braves. Martin struggled the first time out with five runs allowed in three innings against the Angels.

The time for the Chicago White Sox to challenge in the American League Central has come and gone. The White Sox took one on the chin with starter Jeff Samardzija still struggling with ten runs allowed on eleven hits through three frames before Daniel Webb was charged with six runs in 1/3 of an inning. The offense racked up 12 hits and walked four times with Melky Cabrera and Alexei Ramirez each going deep and knocking In four and scoring three times. The White Sox send Erik Johnson to the bump for his third start of the season. Johnson did not get a decision in a 6-2 loss to Minnesota with a run plated over five innings.
The over is 15-5-1 in Oakland’s last 21 overall and is 15-5-1 in their last 21 on grass while the Athletics are 7-20 in their last 27 road games. The over is 7-2 in Chicago’s last 9 vs. American League West. and is 35-16-1 in their last 52 overall while going 35-16-1 in their last 52 on grass. I think Johnson has an edge on the mound and I’ll back him…
