The Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds face off on Sunday at Miller Park as they close out their MLB series.
The Milwaukee Brewers had plenty of offense on Saturday but they couldn’t hold the Reds down as they took the loss. Domingo Santana and Logan Schafer each hit home runs and Khris Davis and Adam Lind each had two hits as the Brewers scored seven runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann allowed eight hits and six runs, five earned, while striking out four over 5.0 innings to not get a decision as Tyler Cravy took the loss. For Sunday’s game the Brewers start Ariel Pena who has allowed nine hits and five runs while striking out 11 for a 1-0 record and a 3.46 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds opened up the offense on Saturday as they beat the Brewers in Milwaukee. Joey Votto and Todd Frazier each hit home runs and Brandon Phillips had three hits as the Reds scored nine runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Joshua Smith allowed six hits and four runs while striking out three over 4.0 innings to not get a decision as Burke Badenhop got the win and Aroldis Chapman earned his 32nd save. For Sunday’s game the Reds start Anthony DeSclafani who has allowed 169 hits and 69 earned runs while striking out 137 over 169 innings for a 9-10 record and a 3.67 ERA.
Milwaukee is 1-5 against a team with a losing record, 0-8 in their last eight games, and 9-5 in their last 14 home games against a team with a losing record. Cincinnati is 5-1 against the NL Central, 10-21 against a team with a losing record, and 2-5 in DeSclafani’s last seven starts.
This is a bad game but I look for the Reds to get another win behind DeSclafani.
