The Minnesota Twins need a road win versus the Detroit Tigers to keep their postseason drive going.
The Minnesota Twins have been a bit streaky this year and they need a winning one to end the season. That didn’t happen Friday with the Twins coughing up a 4-1 lead on the way to a 6-4 defeat for consecutive losses. Starter Mike Pelfrey gave up a run over five frames before Casey Fein and Glen Perkins allowed five runs. The bats totaled two hits and walked four times with Eddie Rosario smacking a bases loaded triple and scoring. Rookie Tyler Duffey will be on the hill Saturday for the second time against the Tigers. Duffey has won back to back contests with a run scored on ten hits and three BB in 13.1 frames.

The Detroit Tigers have a chance to be a spoiler this weekend against Minnesota with little else to play for. The Tigers rallied late to knock off Minnesota for their third straight victory. Matt Boyd allowed all four runs but just two were earned on a hit and four free passes. The offense racked up 13 hits and walked twice with Rajai Davis going deep and driving in two while Victor Martinez knocked in two and Nick Castellanos scored twice. Alfredo Simon toes the rubber versus Minnesota in the second game of their series on Saturday. Simon is looking to rebound from a 10-3 defeat to Kansas City where he gave up eight runs on 13 hits over 4.1 innings.
Minnesota are 11-5 in their last 16 road games. The over is 15-7-2 in Detroit’s last 24 overall. The Twins have backed themselves in to a corner and I think they simply have to win Saturday…
