The Baltimore Orioles hope to get back in the win column against the Boston Red Sox Sunday.
The Baltimore Orioles are finishing out the string with less then two weeks remaining in the season. The Orioles have dropped back to back contests following an 8-0 defeat at Fenway Park. Starter Wei-Yin Chen threw well with a pair of runs plated over 5.2 frames before Oliver Drake was charged with two unearned runs while Jorge Rndon was charged with four unearned runs. The Birds logged five hits and five free passes but couldn’t come up with the clutch hit. The Orioles go with Ubaldo Jimenez on the hill for his 4th meeting against the Red Sox. Jimenez was dominant in a 4-1 win at Washington with an unearned run allowed in six frames.

The Boston Red Sox have a very reachable goal of escaping the American League East after knocking off the Orioles Saturday for two wins in a row. The Red Sox were dominant in all phases with starter Craig Breslow tossing four scoreless frames while six relievers held the Orioles at bay. The bats logged eight hits and walked five times with Josh Rutledge driving in two while Mookie Betts and Brock Holt each driving in runs and scoring twice. Henry Owens toes the rubber for the second time this season on Sunday afternoon. Owens struggled in a 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay with all five runs scored on seven hits over 7.1 innings.
Baltimore are 9-3 in their last 12 games on grass and are 7-3 in their last 10 road games while going 11-5 in their last 16 overall. The over is 11-4 in Boston’s last 15 Sunday games and is 7-2 in Owens’ last 9 starts on grass while going 7-2 in Owens’ last 9 starts overall. Baltimore are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings and are 9-4 in the last 13 meetings in Boston. I don’t like to back the Red Sox at times but this isn’t one of them…
