The Minnesota Twins need a strong finish to the regular season to get in to the postseason. The Twins took a step in that direction with a 6-2 victory at Detroit Saturday behind great pitching and some late scoring. Starter Tyler Duffey gave up both runs on eight hits over six frames with three relievers holding serve. The offense did their damage on ten hits with Eduardo Escobar going 2-4 with a homer and three RBI’s with two runs while Brian Dozier and Kurt Suzuki each drove in a run and scored. Minnesota is scheduled to send Ervin Santana to the hill in the final game of the series at Detroit. Santana has gone 6-4 in 15 starts with a 1.33 WHIP and a4.41 ERA over 94 innings.

Starter Alfredo Simon was charged with four runs on eight hits through eight innings with Kyle Lobstein surrendering a two run homer in the 9th.
