The San Diego Padres and the Milwaukee Brewers face off on Wednesday in San Diego in MLB action.
The San Diego Padres are playing for next year but they didn’t help their momentum on Tuesday as they lost to the Brewers. Cory Spangenberg had two hits and Wil Myers and Matt Kemo were among those with hits s the Padres scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Tyson Ross allowed six hits and four runs while striking out seven over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 10-12 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Padres start Andrew Cashner who has allowed 191 hits and 64 earned runs while striking out 158 over 179.2 innings for a 6-15 record and a 4.21 ERA.

The Milwaukee Brewers were never in it this season but they look to close strong as they beat the Padres on Tuesday. Jean Segura hit a home run, Scooter Gennett had two hits, and Khris Davis had a hit as the Brewers scored four runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Jorge Lopez allowed eight hits and three runs while striking out seven over 5.0 innings to get the win and Francisco Rodriguez earned his 38th save. For Wednesday’s game the Brewers start Zach Davies who has allowed 21 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 18 over 27 innings for a 2-2 record and a 4.67 ERA.
San Diego is 5-2 following a loss, 2-5 against a team with a losing record, and 4-9 in Cashner’s last 13 home starts. Milwaukee is 4-0 against the NL West, 5-12 in their last 17 games, and 1-6 following a win. Milwaukee has won their last four games against San Diego.
Cashner hasn’t had any luck all season and I don’t see that changing here.
