Phillip Gosselin and David Peralta each had two hits and Paul Goldschmidt had a hit as the Diamondbacks scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Chase Anderson allowed four hits and a run while striking out four over 5.1 innings to not get a decision as Randall Douglas got the win and Daniel Hudson earned the save. For Thursday’s game the Diamondbacks start Patrick Corbin who has allowed 81 hits and 29 earned runs while striking out 73 over 79.2 innings for a 6-5 record and a 3.28 ERA.

The Colorado Rockies just didn’t have enough on Wednesday as they fell to the Diamondbacks. Nolan Arenado had two hits and Carlos Gonzalez and Justin Morneau had hits as the Rockies scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher Chad Bettis allowed six hits and two runs, one earned, while striking out six over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 8-6 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Rockies start David Hale who has allowed 89 hits and 49 earned runs while striking out 58 over 73.1 innings for a 5-5 record and a 6.01 ERA.
Arizona is 5-1 in their last six games, 1-4 in game three of a series, and 3-7 in Corbin’s last 10 starts. Colorado is 3-8 in their last 11 games, 16-35 against a left-handed starter, and 1-7 in Hale’s last seven starts. Colorado is 1-5 in the last six meetings of these two.
Arizona is the easy choice here with the better team and the better starting pitcher.
