The Miami Marlins visit Citizens Bank Park to face the rival Philadelphia Phillies in the night cao of their DH.
The Miami Marlins looked like they were going to finish in the National League East basement before winning enough to move in to third. The Marlins fell to instate rival Tampa Bay 4-1 on Thursday for their third straight defeat. Starter Jose Fernandez was hit hard for the second game in row with a pair of runs plated on eleven hits over six innings although he did whiff nine. The Fish posted four hits and three free passes with Ichiro Suzuki doubling in Marcell Ozuna. Rookie Justin Nicolino is scheduled to oppose the Phillies in the series opener in Friday action. Nicolino has gone 4-4 on the season with a 4.16 ERA covering eleven starts.

The Philadelphia Phillies have struggled most of the year and the result is last place in the division with three games remaining in the season. The Phillies have won three in a row after sweeping the Mets with a 3-0 victory Thursday. Starter Jerad Eickhoff was dominant with four hits and ten strikeouts through seven scoreless frames. The Phils bats did just enough on five hits with Darin Ruf smacking a two run bomb while Andres Blanco went solo. Alec Asher looks to record his first major league victory when he faces the Marlins for the second time. Asher is 0-5 in six starts with a 9.00 ERA.
This is game number two of a doubleheader with absolutely nothing at stake so I would be careful backing either team because pitchers are named, changes and renamed. This is the latest I have seen for this game but I would still check the lineups before doing anything…
