The Seattle Mariners and the Oakland A’s face off on Saturday at Safeco Field in game two of their MLB series on American League West teams.
The Seattle Mariners Are just finishing out their disappointing season as they fell to the A’s on Friday. Brad Miller hit a home run, Nelson Cruz had two hits, and Robinson Cano had two hits as the Mariners scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma allowed nine hits and two runs while striking out eight over 7.0 innings to not get a decision as Danny Farquhar took the loss. For Saturday’s game the Mariners start Roenis Elias who has allowed 99 hits and 49 earned runs while striking out 97 over 113.1 innings for a 5-8 record and a 3.89 ERA.

The Oakland A’s are going to finish at the bottom of the AL Wst but that didn’t deter them fron beating the Mariners on Friday. Danny Valencia hit a home runand josh Reddick and Billy Burns had two his each as the A’s scored four runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Aaron Brooks allowed six hits and two runs over 7.0 innings to get the win to raise his record to 3-4 and Sean Doolittle earned his fourth save. For Saturday’s game the A’s start Sean Nolin who has allowed 29 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 13 over 24 innings for a 1-2 record and a 5.25 ERA.
Seattle is 1-8 in their last nine games, 1-4 in game two of a series, and 2-6 in Elias’ last eight starts. Oakland is 3-6 against a team with a losing record, 3-9 in their last 12 games, and 0-4 in game two if a series. Oakland is 2-5 in the last seven meetings of these two.
Seattle just isn’t worthy of this type of price tag so my play here is the A’s.
