The Tampa Bay Rays fought the good fight on Friday but they let the game get away as they lost to the Blue Jays on Friday. Mike Mahtook hit a home run and Luke Maile and Richie Shaffer each had two hits as the Rays scored four runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Erasmo Ramirez allowed 10 hits and four runs while striking out three over 5.1 innings to not get a decision as Enny Romero took the loss. For Saturday’s game the Rays start Chris Archer who has allowed 170 hits and 65 earned runs while striking out 249 over 207 innings for a 12-13 record and a 3.26 ERA.

The Toronto Blue Jays were in a deep hole early on Friday but they bounced back to win easily. Edwin Encarnacion and Russell Martin each hit home runs and Ben Revere added three hits as the Blue Jays scored eight runs on 17 hits. Starting pitcher Mark Buehrle allowed six hits and four runs while striking out three over 6.2 innings to get the win and raise his record to 15-7 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Blue Jays start Marco Estrada who has allowed 131 hits and 61 earned runs while striking out 122 over 174.1 innings for a 13-8 record and a 3.15 ERA.
